As promised, this is the story of my mom's all time best heist. Everyone in my family was always on their guard when it came to my mom and her pranks. April Fools Day was always "her" day. She ALWAYS got you... it didn't matter that you knew it was April Fools Day.. she always wound up getting you. She especially enjoyed pulling a fast one on her sister, my Aunt Lou. It was so bad that every April Fool's Day my Aunt put a note on her telephone to remind her to "beware" of Liz.
One April Fools Day, mom called Aunt Lou (who was at her Florida home at the time) early in the morning (pretending to be calling from work) and had her normal chit chat with her. Being April Fools Day, my Aunt was ready for her. She was alert and on her game - determined not to let another year go by where my Mom got one over on her. So, as part of the conversation, my mom proceeded to tell Aunt Lou something that wasn't true and got her April Fools laugh out of Aunt Lou. Shortly thereafter, my mom hung up the phone and, unbeknownst to Aunt Lou, boarded a plane to Florida with my Dad.
When my parents landed in Florida just a few hours later, my mom's cousin who was in on the prank, picked them up at the airport and drove my parents to Aunt Lou's house. My poor cousin Joyce, who was staying with my Aunt & Uncle, was doing everything possible to keep them home and away from the front window so they wouldn't see my parents as they pulled up to the house. In fact, Joyce was so adamant about closing the blinds that it got my Aunt and Uncle really upset because it was a beautiful sunny day.
So, my parents arrived and rang my Aunt's door bell and as she opened the door, her jaw just dropped to the floor. She couldn't believe my mom and dad were standing there. She had just talked to her, thought she was at work in New York and there she was... not just for the day, but there for a full week of vacation. Talk about inviting yourself over! They didn't mind and had a great time.

That's awesome! I wish I'd known this side of your mom...
That was just like your Mom. I can still hear her laughing. But that was a good, fun, prank. We had a lot of fun times together. I'm still getting over your wedding bed in the living room thing..!!!!
Have a great day.
Aunt Carol
I have to agree, that was a NICE prank, unlike the bedroom thing. I remember how close your mom and aunt were... what a nice story!
Fun, fun, fun!
