Sorry to leave you all hanging for so long. What can I say...life happens. When I last blogged Dad and I went to a taping of Wheel of Fortune. It was such a fun time, but you definitely need to plan on being there a full day. They let you see three tapings and you need to get to the studio 2 hours before the first taping airs.
What a beautiful set!! We sat right behind the contestants who were participating that day so we had strict instructions not to talk to them. You had to be extremely quiet on the set which was harder for my Dad then it was for me. When one of the contestants mentioned he was a NY Rangers Hockey Fan during the taping, my Dad was ready to yell something out and clap his hands, before I almost had to tackle him to the ground and give him the "look" that no talking was allowed.
What we WERE allowed to do was a tremendous amount of clapping. OH MY LORD. I have never clapped so much in my life and honestly, really could go another year before having to clap again.
Vanna and Pat were so gracious -- they fielded questions from the audience and truly made you feel a part of the action. Was great. The BEST part of the show was when there actually was a technical glitch with one of the cameras. They had to stop the game and directed all the players to immediately turn around and face away from the puzzle. It took them about 10 minutes to get things reconfigured and then they picked up where they left off. So, yes..mistakes and technical problems do happen... we just never see them on television.
You weren't allowed to take any pictures in the studio, so this picture of me with Pat and Vanna will have to do.
I would definitely encourage you to go to a taping if you have a chance. Come visit me and I'll take you there myself. The episodes we saw in January air, today, tomorrow and Wednesday.
