This morning while putting away some sheets in Chris' room, he stumbled upon his beloved "lovies". They are just his cotton receiving blankets from when he was a baby which became his security blankets. He loved those little cotton blankets and helped him through every cry and "growing pain" he encountered as a little one. He had stopped "needing" them long ago but oh the joy on his face when he came across them again. He was hugging them, sniffing them and just so excited to see these familiar friends.
It made me stop to think about security blankets. What or who do we run to and cling to in the hard times? When we are struggling and need some comfort do we run to the Lord or do we cling to something here on earth or to someone else? Just food for thought.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1

Very true! Yesterday was a hard one at our house, something I'll share in a later post, but Olivia and I had just finished with a doctor appointment for her and when we got back to the car, we both reached for the box of Dunkin Donuts! I did reach for my Lord later on in the day, don't worry.
Michael had a security blanket for years. It was his comforter from the crib. He finally came and gave it to me when he turned 10, please don't tell anyone he had it that long! But it was so sad to put it away. Enjoyed your story and the one on the band-aids!!
Oh, you are so right. I can just see the joy on Chris' face as he loved his lovies. And doesn't our Lord want to see the same joy in us when we cling to Him? Why is it so easy to forget Him? Why do I so often go to Him LAST? Thank you for the incredible reminder. You have such a gift of bringing out truth in your posts. I am blessed to call you sister AND friend!!! Love you!
